Master Gardeners are required to complete 30 hours of horticultural training in order to achieve certification. In addition, each member is required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer work in their first year, and 20 hours annually thereafter. Classes are conducted through the University of Missouri Extension department and are held on the campus of Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri.
Level I training is conducted in a classroom environment. Level II classes will be held outdoors and will be a much more “hands-on” experience. Currently, we have graduated three Level I classes of Jefferson County Master Gardeners.
